Japan has officially revealed the list of the Top 10 best-selling manga volumes of 2025, and once again the Straw Hat Pirates have shown why they remain the undisputed champions of the industry. As the saying goes, “form is temporary, class is permanent” — and this year’s rankings prove exactly that.

The 2025 manga market continued to be a battleground, with iconic Shonen giants going head-to-head against gripping drama titles. Although many newcomers have risen in popularity, the sales throne still belongs to legendary franchises whose influence shows no sign of fading.

The prestigious Oricon sales chart — widely considered the most reliable benchmark of Japan’s publishing industry — has published this year’s top 10. As expected, the rankings are dominated by long-established heavyweights, yet they also reveal intriguing insights into the evolving tastes of modern readers.

This year marks a notable milestone: the top four positions all surpassed 1.2 million copies sold, an extraordinary achievement that any mangaka would dream of reaching.

One Piece once again stood at the summit. Eiichiro Oda’s masterpiece secured first place with Volume 111, reaching an impressive 1,370,154 copies sold. This is the third consecutive year — and the fifteenth time in history — that the Straw Hats have claimed the No.1 spot, setting a record that will be incredibly difficult for any series to surpass.

Close behind is Jujutsu Kaisen, which continues to attract immense attention despite approaching its final chapters. Volumes 30 and 29 landed in second and third place respectively, proving that fans remain fiercely loyal as the story enters its climactic endgame.

While Shonen titles still dominate — with My Hero Academia and Spy x Family maintaining strong performance — the 2025 list highlights readers’ growing appreciation for deeper, more thoughtfully crafted narratives.

The increasing hype around the final season of My Hero Academia’s anime has reignited interest in the manga, helping Volume 42 secure a spot within the top 5.

Amid the explosive action series, both Kingdom and The Apothecary Diaries bring a refreshing balance. One offers an epic tale of wartime strategy during the Warring States period, while the other delivers a slow-burn, intrigue-filled story set within palace walls. Their presence reflects a shift: audiences are valuing slower, more emotionally and intellectually layered storytelling.

As for One Piece, the hunt for the legendary treasure shows no sign of losing momentum. With the highly anticipated Elbaf arc coming to screens next year and the mysterious new character Figarland Shamrock (voiced by fan-favourite Kenjiro Tsuda) teased in promotions for Volume 113, the Straw Hat era is far from over.

Although 2025 has closed, its legacy signals an even more explosive 2026. Will any new contender have the strength to dethrone these industry kings? Only time will tell.
